Oversee and provide tax support of Enterprise business initiatives, including advising on M&A, restructuring, and proposed business endeavors; identify risks in transactions and support related contract negotiations; and I oversee transfer pricing initiatives and develop appropriate tax and pricing strategies. Other work includes researching various credits and incentives, advising on nexus and PE impacts of remote work, and developing strategic plans to mitigate risk and tax liabilities.

Oversee the indirect compliance related to GM's non-automotive industries, including telecommunications, ride and car sharing, infotainment and telematic services, and emerging technologies. This includes researching law changes and regulatory requirements, managing audit and controversy defense, and oversight of and negotiating consulting engagements with outside vendors. I advise on impacts of entering new markets, entity formation, and related considerations of new ventures. I also partner with business units to assist with tax and regulatory matters, various consumer privacy and data laws, and truth-in-billing and various consumer protection requirements. Finally, I assist with developing and implementing plans and processes to streamline procedures, I advise on ongoing system designs and configurations, oversee the implementation and transition to new billing systems and tax engines, and partner with a number of various business units to assist with tax matters.

[Contract] Attorney with the Tax Counsel Team. I engaged in tax research and data analysis projects; performed contract reviews; and advised various departments on law changes, proper tax treatment of transactions, and other regulatory and tax matters. I assisted with audit defense among Federal, State, and Regulatory agencies. And I've identified potential refund opportunities and ways to minimize tax liability.

Tax representation and problem resolution in Federal and State matters. My primary focus was on tax controversy matters, including but not limited to employment matters; alter ego, lien and levy defense; and account resolution including appeals negotiations, penalty waivers, and Offer in Compromise representation. I counseled business owners on profit maximization and basic accounting principles, and I mentored Associate Taxpayer Advocates in tax law and compliance resolution. Special focus given to small and medium sized businesses, employment matters, and indirect tax matters.

Law Clerk to the Tribunal Members. Assisted the Members by performing legal research and drafting memoranda of law. Emphasis on small claims cases, researching and preparing final orders and judgments, reviewing and summarizing evidence and testimony, and assisting the Tribunal Members & Judges in hearings. Mentored incoming Law Clerks on preparation of small claims templates and motion drafting. Special focus on tax litigation, constitutional, and administrative issues.
