About S. Michael Craven

My vocation includes, for-profit and non-profit executive, worldview expertise, public theologian, cultural analyst, and author.Ever since leaving my career as a corporate CEO in 2001, I have been working to help people obtain biblical wisdom so that they might be better able to live faithfully and discern what is true, and good, and beautiful in every area of life and reality.In 2007, I founded the Center for Christ & Culture where my weekly commentaries reached more than a million readers each week through Crosswalk.com, Christianity.com, The Christian Post and numerous other web-based outlets. In 2009, I authored, Uncompromised Faith: Overcoming Our Culturalized Christianity (NavPress). I have been a featured speaker at many venues ranging from the University of California at Berkeley to the National Conference on Christian Apologetics. I served as an adjunct professor at Western Seminary, where I taught Cultural Apologetics. I have appeared on Fox News, CNN, ABC, NBC, and many other national television and radio programs. Prior to joining The Colson Center, I served as the president of BridgeBuilders, an inner-city ministry in South Dallas, where we pioneered a unique "missional" strategy for transforming the “culture of poverty” into a culture of flourishing, breaking the cycle of poverty that dominates America’s inner-city communities.

    I assumed leadership of this $4.1M non-profit following the premature death of the founder and CEO, which left the organization and its stakeholders with an uncertain future. The organization was struggling with its identity, mission focus, and excessive overhead. I drafted and implemented the organization’s first Strategic Plan, reorganized and reduced the budget by nearly $2M while expanding our local programming and measurable impact. The agency became a premier poverty alleviation organization whose model succeeded at breaking the cycle of generational poverty common to the American inner-city context.

    The Center for Christ & Culture is a teaching ministry committed to the reformation and renewal of the church in America. Hebel SouthCentral provided turn-key building solutions that included structural design and engineering, manufacture, and installation of PAAC masonry units and reinforced panels. I was responsible to pioneer, direct, market and establish this first-of-its-kind structural system in the U.S. I was responsible for creating, developing and managing the sales, engineering, construction and administrative divisions of the company. I drafted the company’s residential and commercial marketing plans, which created the design, construction and distribution infrastructure necessary to establish PAAC in the U.S. market. I successfully led this organization in overcoming extraordinary obstacles relative to institutionalized resistance to new products in an extremely risk adverse industry. I positioned the product to achieve industry acceptance and support the $32 million investment in a local manufacturing plant.
