May 2024 update: taking a break to focus on my mental and physical health <3 ---I get to do what I wanted to do when I was a kid. Essentially, I get to support people so they can be their best selves at work, all while creating some fun and magic along the way. Being a US-based HR department of one has been challenging and also impactful. From being the HR Lead at a startup in the blockchain space that was later acquired by CoinBase, to now being the People Operations Manager for CoderPad, ensuring that my teammates are supported is not just a job, but something I feel passionately about.But before I got here, I took a leap of faith in May 2014 from my awesome corporate gig into 'f-unemployment'​ to pursue my passion for travel and experiences. I moved the hyphen 22 months later and became fun-employed as a flight attendant with Virgin America (later bought by Alaska Airlines) and part-time as a Community Support Speciality with PeriscopeTV in February 2016. Since then, my contract with Periscope ended and I moved into an Inflight Instructor role at the airline. Teaching and flying wasn't enough, and I wanted to get back into the HR space, and the pandemic opened up my time to do so. While on a voluntary furlough from the airline, I took the time to dive deeper into my why's and what's and find a way to thrive. I've also recruited for MSB Holdings Inc. and am in charge of Operations for Nomadness Travel Tribe, a 25k+ strong travel community for Black and brown travelers, people of color and our allies. I started my career exploring the benefit of social media for recruiting, to creating a strategy and growing the Jobs at Intel online presence. It was a role that was was part community manager, part social media strategist, and all around rewarding. I collaborated with a global team, curated content to inform, entertain and evoke emotion from our online community, and provided a human touch to virtual recruiting. As a nomad and curious traveler, the internet and social networks have helped me keep in touch with my family and friends around the world to share experiences, keep in touch and nurture relationships.If not me, chances are high that I can point you in the right direction.
