About Dr. Tingyu (Smiley) Wang

My name is Tingyu Wang (alias Smiley). I am working for The Fred Hollows Foundation as China Country Manager. I am based in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China since September 2012. I am leading a small team from two offices in China for "The Right to Sight for All", particularly for most vulnerable people in west part of China.I have been working for the disability program development for many years. Most of my development career are involved in program design, implementation and management with international developmental organisations. I have worked for Save the Children (SC) UK China program for more than 10 years. In 2006 I was seconded to SCUK Bangladeshi program as interim country director for half a year. In order to increase my overseas development experience, In June 2007, I left China.Since June 2007, I have been with Leonard Cheshire Disability UK, which works with 250 programme partners in 54 countries supporting people with disabilities to access their rights of education, livelihoods, health & rehabilitation services and a voice in the societies. I was based in Bangkok for 5 years as a regional representative of East Asia and Pacific linking with UN regional offices in Bangkok, international NGOs and multilateral & bilateral agencies in 9 countries in the region. I have proven my skills in program management and have developed a strong ability to work with culturally diverse team. I have established strong linkages with external stakeholders and key partners. My experiences have helped me gain confidence in an effective leadership, recognizing the importance of organizational and staffs’ value, realizing multi-tasks and prioritizing to meet tight deadlines. I can assure you a systematic and organized approach to program related matters and a sensitive understanding of rights of people with disabilities. I will sincerely make my faithful and commitment to disability development promoting rights of people with disabilities.Specialties: With my 10 years’ NGO professional in China plus 4 year international work, I have proven extensive knowledge experience in:- development work in China and globally, particularly in:- programme strategic planning and designing;- programme implementation and monitoring & evaluation.I am now seeking to contribute these skills and abilities to the development & management of programmes in developing countries.
