Postdoctoral ResearcherCornell University Aug 2022 - Aug 2023Ithaca, New York, United StatesPostodctoral researcher in the lab of Prof. Cedric Feschotte, department of Molecular Biology and Genetics researching on HIV and Human endogenous retorviruses (HERVs) as a part of the HIV Obstruction by Programmed Epigenetics (HOPE) Collaboration, with a goal to silence and eliminate latent HIV by understanding how the ancient remnants, HERVs are inactivated in the genome. Interested in elucidating mechanism of antiviral protein in HIV-1 infection. Other research focus is on understanding the cross talk between endogenous and exogenous viruses in B cell lymphoma, involving HIV/AIDS and EBV infection -
Postdoctoral ResearcherHospital Of The University Of Tübingen May 2021 - Jun 2022Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, GermanyAs I moved to new lab, which was just started in Tübingen, I learnt a lot and supported in setting up and organizing the lab. Establishing and optimizing protocols in a new lab setup, collaborating and networking in the Department were part of the postdoc. Laboratory management was a skill I gained alongside continuing research on HIV, SARS CoV-2 and human endogenous retroviruses in Prof. Daniel Sauter's group. Research projects: Identification of cellular genes regulated by HIV-1 induced Endogenous retroviruses (ERV). Analyzing the role of HIV-1-induced ERV and cellular gene in infection and immunity.Role of antiviral protein in Syncytin mediated fusion of trophoblast cells -
Phd ResearcherUniversitätsklinikum Ulm (University Hospital Ulm) Feb 2017 - Apr 2021GermanyIn the lab of Prof. Dr. Daniel Sauter and Prof. Dr. Frank Kirchhoff, I researched to determine the effects of primary HIV-1 strains on the expression of HERVs in a global and unbiased manner and to identify cellular genes that might be regulated by endogenous retroviruses. I found that HIV-1 infection activates endogenous retroviral LTR12C promoters regulating antiviral gene expression of Guanlylate binding proteins (GBP2 and GBP5)Dissertation : HIV-1 infection induces endogenous retroviral promoters regulating antiviral gene expression -
Master Thesis ProjectUlm University Mar 2016 - Sep 2016Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, GermanyThesis: Role of EZH2 (Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2) In B cell leukemogenesis The aim of the project was to Investigate the molecular mechanisms of leukemogenic effect of EZH2 repression in MYC driven B-lymphomagenesis .We found that EZH2 inactivation potentiates MYC-driven leukemogenesis by blocking differentiation at pre-B-cell stage. Demonstrated the role of EZH2 in H3K27 tri-methylation. Further, we estimated the danger of reprogramming of B-cell lymphoma into pre-B cell leukemia by EZH2 inhibitors. Our results adds to the understanding the role of EZH2 inactivation in B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. -
Immunology Research FellowNii - National Institute Of Immunology Jun 2013 - Aug 2013New Delhi Area, IndiaAnalysis of inflammatory responses through activation of Toll Lile Receptor 5 by flagellin from Salmonella typhi The aim was to understand the signal transduction of Toll-like-receptor-5 activation by bacterial antigen called flagellin. Cytokine production upon interaction with flagellin and TLR5 was identified and analysed. We observed a dose and time dependent increase in the production of IL-8 upon flagellin treatment. TNF alpha production was analysed and observed early immune response upon flagellin addition. My fellowship was sponsored by Indian Academy of Sciences and I was a fellow in Dr. Ayub Qadri's lab
