As Superintendent of Education with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, my leadership has been instrumental in advancing inclusive education and equitable outcomes for all learners. Responsibilities include steering the progress of the OCDSB's Equity, Indigenous, and Human Rights' Roadmap and ensuring accountability for our collective commitment to dismantling systemic barriers and fostering excellence across all schools. Other accomplishments include the advancement of numerous milestones as Superintendent of Indigenous Education (2021-Present): Supervision of the Indigenous Education strategic priorities and Board Action Plan (2021 - ongoing), Growth of the OCDSB Indigenous Education Council (2021 - ongoing), Expansion of Indigenous Education Team from 9 to 21 members (2021 - 2023), Establishment of Indigenous Languages program, Collaboration with internal departments in development of Indigenous focused School Within a College opportunities for students, Revision of Voluntary Indigenous Self Identification Policy (2024), Increasing Indigenous representation in Decision Making through the Establishment of Indigenous representatives on the OCDSB Special Education Advisory Committee (2023) and the Establishment of the first Indigenous Student Trustee position (2024).My role is not just professional; as a parent of a child with an intellectual disability, I bring a personal commitment to creating optimal learning conditions for all students. This dual perspective enriches my approach, guiding my advocacy for special education and the rights of all students. Our achievements in promoting a culture of inclusion are a testament to the power of collaborative transformation within the educational system.
