On the native mobile side I use Java on Android & Swift or Objective C on iOS (or Ionic for Cross Platform). And on Web my preference is Spring Boot / Serverless Javascript for backend and Angular for code that runs in the browser.Quite often I find myself in NBD (New Business Development) meetings but what I enjoy the most is being involved in making technology related decisions about what the best tools for a job is and then working in intimate software teams to bring it to life.

As one of the first team members working on a mobile first, social orientated Directory system Iwas initially doing mostly .NET but became part of the J2ME team when it was assembled. Later I joined the iOS team where I gained my first experience in Objective C.This was exciting as we were working on the future of Mobile in Africa.

With Mongodb supporting geospatial indexing it is really easy to enrich a dataset with location information and then consume this from mobile. With Mongodb and Android both being FOSS (Free Open Source Software) it really is attractively open ended what all the possibilities are one could accomplish with it.

At 24.com I work as a developer in the Open Source (LAMP) Social Networking division. One of the exciting projects that I am looking forward to working on is going to be a single sign-on Profile management platform. Hopefully we also get to do some LBS (Location Based Services) work.In the past 24.com has been a purely Microsoft shop but with the forming of a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP) division which I am a part of the stage has been set for some very exciting development and cross platform integration.

At Korbitec I am involved in the re-development of the GhostConvey conveyancing system. We are using .NET and SQL Server infrastructure to realize the goals of this project which are to modernize the architecture of the existing GhostConvey system which has been the market leader for the past 10+ years.

At Cellfind I was responsible for the Corporate LBS (Location Based Services). These included Look4Me for Business and the South-African Police's Risk Management system.Other LBS services / systems I were involved in included Look4Me, Look4Help and Ifind (34600)All the LBS systems were developed in a combination of Erlang, Java, PHP and utilizing a MySQL database.During my time at Cellfind I also performed development of Mobile content Management and Distribution Portals. These portals were developed in a combination of .NET (C#) and PHP.

At Prosource I was involved in developing personalized email solutions (used for 3rd party email campaigns) in .NET utilizing C# and SQL Server 2000 / Access as database. These Print Solutions accepted as input the relevant delimited text files and produced formatted invoices / account statements which were then printed with industrial lazerjet printers and produced in batches per delivery locations.

At TMS I wrote Panel Beating Workshop management software utilizing Delphi 5 and writing to a Paradox database. I was also involved in workstation assembly as well as physical network infrastructure installations.
