As lead for the Software Engineering and Architecture Team and a member of the Global IT Enterprise Architecture Organisation at Accenture, my primary responsibility is to deliver cutting-edge line of business applications that support the delivery of Accenture services to global clients. In this role, I provide direction, guidance, and leadership on the implementation of high-performance, robust, enterprise-scale architectural patterns that align with the latest stable technology stacks and support innovation and delivery at scale and pace.I lead the Architecture and Development capability directly for the Software Engineering Capability in Dublin driving the delivery of multiple projects, managing multiple teams of Software Engineers, Scrum Masters, Business analysts, and Testers working in an agile delivery model across various global locations and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and performance standards.In my global strategy role, I contribute to the organization-wide Enterprise Architecture strategy, focusing on serverless application development, lean/agile architectural patterns and processes, cloud-native CI/CD strategy and tooling, application development for multi-cloud deployment, developer productivity, and branching and versioning strategy in distributed development teams. Through my contributions, I ensure that our enterprise architecture strategy aligns with the latest trends and best practices in the industry.As a member of the location leadership team in Dublin, I am responsible for the Enterprise Architecture Community, with key focus areas on personal development, growing the capability through recruitment of new resources, and promoting learning, certification, and career progression. In this role I managed the eCommerce development team and was the interface between the team and a number of our leading retail clients. Working directly with technology, marketing and eCommerce representatives within our client and partner organisations I directed the delivery of large-scale client solutions on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards leading to the creation of superior eCommerce experiences for both consumers and retailers.As an Agile advocate and leveraging my extensive experience in technology and development management, I was also responsible for introducing and promoting Agile processes and practices within and throughout the multiple development teams in the organisation. As part of this initiative the SCRUM process was applied specifically to the projects under my control with two week sprints delivering against a collaboratively refined backlog, daily stand-up meetings, team retrospectives and internal and external end of sprint demos being put in place. The success of the introduction of these Agile processes was a key factor in increasing productivity, throughput and ultimately client satisfaction.

Tasked with setting and executing the overall IT strategy across the Empathy Marketing Group, I was specifically responsible for working with internal business units and external clients to assess high-level requirements and translate these into technical solutions to be implemented as scalable, high performance web applications by our web and mobile development teams working under my direction and leadership. The applications were mainly built using Microsoft .Net technologies although, as project specific requirements dictated, I introduced appropriate technologies and ensured adequate training and skill development programs for the teams. I led the successful architecture and deployment of a new cloud hosting infrastructure onto which all development, staging and production environments were migrated from a traditional datacentre environment in 2013.I successfully managed a number of key business critical projects including:● Management of the successful development and delivery of a suite of scalable, high performance consumer-facing web and mobile applications on behalf of the group, including www.pigsback.com, www.thediningroom.ie, www.luxurybreaks.ie, www.thebeautylounge.ie● Re-architecture of the group application hosting infrastructure and migration to cloud-native hosting● Mentoring the development teams through the transition to an API-centric application development strategy increasing the agility and flexibility of the team and applications● Implementing a successful mobile development strategy extending the reach of the group’s applications to multiple new platforms● Migration of the group email and collaboration suite from self-hosted to the Microsoft 365 Platform● Increasing the performance and output of the development teams through continued refinement of the development, quality and deployment processes● Management and oversight of recruitment, career development and training for IT staff and for the overall IT budget across the group.

As Software Engineering Manager I was responsible for the transformation of both the core application platform and the application development strategy in support of the planned launch of the Pigsback.com platform in Canada and further international markets. I successfully delivered a number of key projects to achieve this:● Recruited, trained and lead a distributed development team consisting of both internal and contract resource ● Led the re-architecture of the entire application platform to support multi-tenant deployment and international markets, including complete migration from classic ASP to ASP.Net● Implemented and championed development best practices around version control, automated build / test / release and QA assurance● Put in place and championed an agile development methodology, built and managed a robust development roadmap and release planning strategy and significantly improved defect, risk and issue tracking.The successful completion of these projects allowed the business to successfully deploy the Pigsback.com platform in various international markets. Along with the activity above I also continued to take an active hands-on role in the development process and in refining the application architecture and functionality.

Initially joining on a 3-month contract to design and deliver a suite of tools and components to streamline the production process and increase the functionality of the consumer website I was offered a permanent position following the on-time successful delivery of this project. As Senior Developer I was responsible for developing and supporting new functional components for client campaigns on both the Irish and UK consumer websites as well as developing and maintaining the bespoke in-house content management system. I was also responsible for the architecture, design and development of an online interactive client campaign reporting tool. During this role I also planned and executed the successful migration of the consumer facing website from Microsoft SQL Server 7 to Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

As a Senior Consultant at Aikon eSolutions, a general service IT company, I led the Internet application development team and was responsible for successfully delivering a diverse range of website projects. These included simple marketing-driven brochure sites for SME clients, a bespoke recruitment and e-commerce application for a larger client, and an interactive knowledge sharing platform for universities and educational institutions across Western Europe as part of an EU-funded initiative.As a founding team member, I played an active role in sales and business development. I worked closely with new and existing clients to identify project opportunities and opened up revenue streams for the business.Through my work at Aikon, I developed my technical skills in a commercial environment and gained valuable experience in project management, ownership, and team leadership. I also developed my client relationship management, sales, and business development skills, which helped me build strong, long-term partnerships with clients.

As a Software Engineer at AMT, a global leader in Connected Aircraft solutions for airlines, I contributed to the development of their core product, Flightman™. This Electronic Flight Bag solution, built in Java and utilizing XML and GSM wireless technology, enabled airlines to optimize regulatory compliance, total operational efficiency, and in-cabin passenger service.In this role, I collaborated with international sales and client teams to identify, develop, and integrate new features for the product. Specifically, I played a key role in the successful trial of the Flightman™ solution with Malaysian Airlines, which resulted in the airline signing a large contract with AMT.Through my work at AMT, I gained full software development life cycle experience with Java, XML, and SQL. I also developed skills in effectively communicating with international teams to identify and address requirements and successfully deliver projects on tight deadlines.
