I serve as board chair as a representative of the business community and public Stakeholders experienced in the technical aspects of site development, regulatory compliance and Brownfield redevelopment. I coordinate with City of Grand Rapids staff and conduct business meetings of the GRBA and EDC to review and approve projects, proposals, Tax Increment Financing requests, grant and loan requests, bond issues, NGO partnerships, assignment of interest and other matters brought before the BRA and EDC.

With 25 years experience in the Consulting Engineering profession, I perform environmental engineering, asset management, and project management to satisfy clients' needs in the Environmental Services Division of FTCH's broad service portfolio.As an avid problem-solver, I apply my technical expertise in environmental engineering, risk assessment, and project management to perform pre-acquisition due diligence, post-acquisition due care, risk assessment for emerging contaminants, site remediation and closure. Services include initial client consult, proposal planning and budgeting, work oversight, evaluation of data and results, and preparation of reports and presentations to the client. When warranted, remediation systems are designed, specifications and bid packages prepared, contractors procured, construction oversight provided, operation, maintenance and performance monitoring performed, and ultimately closure status pursued.

Held successive engineering positions from Staff Engineer up through Project Manager and Vice President. Projects included geotechnical engineering, underground infrastructure, environmental engineering, site remediation, brownfield redevelopment, waste handling and disposal, and multi-media environmental compliance (air, water, waste).Sample Projects:- Directed project teams performing Brownfield redevelopment and property transaction services for public and private clients at over 300 sites.- Assisted communities in obtaining and implementing federal grants- Lead the investigation and remediation of a former industrial landfill into a riverfront marina complex.- Assessed and corrected the condition of underground storage tanks for a metropolitan DPW at over 85 fueling sites to avoid impending regulatory fines; the project included removal, cleanup and successful closure of over 100 tanks, design and installation of 17 replacement systems, and the design and installation of equipment upgrades at eight sites. - Directed and managed the investigation, cleanup and closure of soil and groundwater contamination from industrial waste sites to allow reuse.- Obtained and maintained for over twelve years an IDIQ emergency response contract with a major water and sewer authority to provide all environmental response, cleanup, compliance and training services as-needed; also participated annually in identifying and prioritizing environmental needs for their budget setting process.- Lead the investigation, characterization and risk assessment of environmental impacts at a targeted riverfront redevelopment site that was CERCLA listed due to its former use for a Manufactured Gas Plant, tire manufacturing, and stove manufacturing facility. Risk assessments, feasibility studies, recommendations and cost estimating allowed the City to pursue cost recovery from the responsible parties, effecting a coalition cleanup effort that lead to successful redevelopment.
