About Sean Leahy

I just changed my "About" section here. It used to say, "... Process Improvement. Quality Assurance.... with a proven track record of..." Yeah, I did those things. Don't get me wrong; I think they are important roles to play, and I enjoyed serving them. But talking about it, writing about it - BORING! Man, I'm sorry if I ever put you through reading it. What I hope is more interesting, and certainly more meta, is communication. I've had a long career in the hospitality and entertainment industry. Success in that field requires communication – connection with an audience. What I think is often overlooked, however, is how that connection is made. Many artists feel success lies in telling their own story. While that’s part of it, it is not what reels in the superfans. Superfans are won over when they feel the artist is telling the superfan’s story – placing the fan at the center of the story. It turns out, success in almost every other field is driven by the same principle. Discover your audience’s/followers'/customers' needs and goals and make them the hero in their own story. Doing that creates long-term, loyal superfans who champion your product or service. Anyway, hopefully my little philosophy on communication, heroes, and customer stories was a little less boring than, “… and a 20% improvement in product quality…”
