He helped impact the law involving fiduciary duties,public procurement,real estate, separation of Church and State and Hate Crimes by winning cases in the NY Court of Appeals,Appellate Divisions,federal and state trial courts and by helping lead the Anti-Defamation League's lobbying effort to enact NY Hate Crimes legislation.He serves on the Bd. of Editors of the NY Law Journal and authors its weekly "Realty Law Digest" column.The NYC Bar Assoc. appointed him to committees that reviewed the nominations of Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Jackson for the US Supreme Court. The Chief Judge of the NY Court of Appeals appointed Scott to the NYS Supreme Court Commercial Div. Advisory Council. He was also appointed by the Appellate Division, 1st. Dep’t),to its Attorney Grievance Committee. His practice includes commercial litigation (breach of contract, real estate, fiduciary duties, partnerships, lender liabilities), appeals, alternative dispute resolution ,government relations and investigations.The Commercial Observer had named Scott as a “Power Counsel”,(one of only five lawyers), on its Power 100 list of people in NY commercial real estate. Chambers and Partners had ranked Scott in “Band 1” for real estate litigation, one of only three NYC lawyers to then receive that ranking. The NY Law Journal awarded Scott its Lifetime Achievement award. Scott advises major corporations, business executives,real estate owners ,developers, commercial tenants,investors ,lenders,government agencies and public officials.His matters included the successful defense of real estate developers in litigations which challenged zoning approvals for approx. 2 billion dollars of real estate developments. After the 9/11 tragic attack, Scott successfully represented Motorola Corporation in an investigation as to whether their radios were defective and contributed to the deaths of first responders.The radios were not defective. NYC paid 100% of Motorola’s invoices. He lectured before judges and court attorneys at legal education programs for the NYS Office of Court Administration ,Appellate Terms and Appellate Divisions.He lectured for the NY Federal Bar Council, the Practicing Law Institute, the NYC Bar Assoc. , NY County Lawyers Assoc., Brooklyn Bar Assoc., the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Assocs.and has served as an Adjunct Professor at St. John's University School of Law where he taught Alternate Dispute Resolution. Scott has served as a Vice-Chairperson of the NY Regional Board and member of the Executive Committee of the Lawyer's Division of the Anti-Defamation League.
