I am a multi disciplinary designer, fully fledged geek and thrive when designing bespoke products, devices and solving complicated problems with elegant engineering solutions.Following my graduation from the Royal College of Art in 2002 I continued my love for design demonstrating a fascination with electro mechanical devices and exploring opportunities through creative thinking and experimentation.This flare for re-concepting materials and objects led to my role as senior designer of fashion premium business unit at Nokia & later working on projects in collaboration with The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. Having travelled the world and seeking to revisit the freedom of working for myself I formed The Special Projects Consultancy in 2008, working to imagineer and design for commercial clients as well as beginning to work in the film special effects industry.In the past 15 years I have worked on films such as Wonder Woman, Star Wars, 1917, James Bond and more recently was part of the design and build crew for the new Batmobile. In 2020 the Special Projects Consultancy expanded - with our extensive experience in product, industrial & engineering design we now focus on supplying services to leading special effect and art departments, as well as a diverse range of other commercial projects for a range of international clients. The consultancies services span design and development, prototyping, project builds and installations.Much of my early inspiration came from growing up in Sheffield, a city rich in industrial heritage – I like to think this has rubbed of on me resulting in a warm no-nonsense approach to my work. As a teenager I was awarded ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ by the British Engineering Council, in 2002 I received a master's from the Royal College of Art.I live in rural Essex where I relax by kayaking in local rivers and renovating our Victorian pub with my partner and daughters.
