In this thesis, an existing model for the generation of charging profiles of electric vehicles will be validated and its application tested against several exemplary grid samples to investigate the impact of electric vehicles on the distribution grid. The model will be tested against various scenarios to represent current and future penetration of electric vehicles in the German market and to evaluate the additional loads and power utilisation of transformers and the distribution grid due to the increasing electrification. Additionally, a web service is implemented as a web API using the Django REST framework to serve as an interface to the model.

Involved in the grid integration of decentralised generation plants and accreditation services. Tasks:• Worked with PowerFactory to develop models for dynamic simulations and load flow calculations. Furthermore, used these models for creating Plant Certification reports dealing with compliance of RfG and other network codes by ENTSO-E for accreditation services. • Got acquainted with different german guidelines for grid connection of generation units such as BDEW 2008, VDE-AR-N 4120 (High voltage) and VDE-AR-N 4110 (Medium Voltage).• Verified trustworthiness of the documents for simulation and calculation purposes.• Worked on Microsoft VBA to develop scripts for automating data on Excel Workbooks for certification process.• Used the network planning tool INTEGRAL for creating transmission grid models and running simulations.• Programmed frequency response and active power tests for EirGrid Grid Compliance testing using MATLAB.• Conducted Market Analysis of the Energy Market players for India and Scandinavia.

Tasks:• Developed and tested a code for hysteresis predictive control for automatic switching on and off of a boiler using MATLAB. • Used Python for creating historical weather metrics dataset using an API and simulating behaviour of the boiler.• Translation of project-related documents and teaching materials from German to English and vice versa.

• Intern in the mobility division at Kalwa Works. Learnt the procedure behind acquisition of packages and proposals in Mass transit systems. • Conducted a feasibility study on RMGL metro.• Conducted a case study on Navi Mumbai Rail Metro Line and the different packages provided by Siemens - Rolling stock, Signalling systems, Depot equipment, Automatic fare collection, electrification etc.• Visited the Motor factory where I saw the procedure employed to make the DC and traction motors. The different equipment used for making laminations and the assembly region where the end product is created.• Visited the Switchboard factory where I saw how the circuit breakers are created. The primary circuit breaker made in the factory is the Vacuum circuit breaker. Visited the different bays where the components are manufactured or imported till the time they're assembled and tested. Got an in-depth idea behind circuit breakers and their working.
