Though not in the same study group we interacted often. Manish was well liked and respected by both faculty and fellow executives. After graduation, Manish gave me the opportunity to work with him as an independent contractor. We spent 14 months migrating the electronic document interchange of the Kentucky and Florida HIPPA processing centers to EDI 5010. This project gave me insight into how he managed his firm and his relationships with the Hewlett Packard team and the end customer from both states. The EDI subsystem Manish originally delivered to HP previously required a great deal of system end to end understanding. There was a sizable layered HP team consisting management technical staff who were responsible for maintenance of the system and first level technical customer support. Manish had strong long standing relationships with each member of the team and was clearly the person they looked to for project leadership and technical solutions. This same relationship was evident with the state representatives responsible for compliance to the Medicaid regulations. Their respect for Manish was clearly earned through the flexibility and robustness of the EDI system he delivered and maintained. The creation of the subsystem required a clear understanding of the subsystem's specific role in the Medicaid processing, but to have delivered a solution that would be both robust enough and flexible enough to grow and change with the evolving requirements was only possible through a deeper understanding of the wide range of Medicaid services provided and how the requirements for those services were likely to evolve over time. While the EDI subsystems Manish had delivered were technically impressive, I was more impressed with his ability to recognize talent and bring people together to deliver solutions. His ability to lead the cross-functional teams required a clear understanding of their talents and the ability to properly motivate and coach them. These leadership and interpersonal skills allowed Manish to reach out to a wide variety of personal contacts and bring the right mix of talent to deliver the solution quickly through a small team. Manish brought together a small group of engineers with a wide set of expertise and was able to manage each engineer working from a remote location. Maintaining a flat organization assured the talent of each person was fully utilized while maintaining an atmosphere of partnership where each person willingly contributed for the benefit of the team. It was a pleasure getting to know Manish as a friend during the EMBA program and an honor to work closely with him. I would strongly recommend Manish for a leadership role in any organization and would gladly work with him again."
