Lead and pursue platform work in the Avionics and Aerospace industry, focusing on embedded Linux systems. Responsibilities include bidding new work, building backlogs / planning execution, handling status, and leading technical execution. Developed many tools (using Python) to improve general process including a tool to automate procedures which took 1-2 weeks, down to a simple to use JSON configuration file.Technical Responsibilities: - New hardware board bring-up - Bootloader configuration and development (including custom hardware support; u-boot, at91) - Linux driver configuration and development - Cross compilation / toolchain and SDK creation - Open Source and off-the-shelf software support and integration (buildroot, etc) - Established CI/CD process to improve codebase stability - Leverage containers (LXC, Docker, etc) for predictable environments and deployment solutionsNon-technical responsibilities: - Bidding new efforts for the team - Backlog definition / sprint planning - Leading team through execution of backlogs, including reporting status, managing issues, etc - Manage subcontractors both internally and externally (including fully external teams handling subbed-out work) - Handling cross-team communication (including external departments) all the way through product release (and into maintenance)Other: - Lead a team of ~10 in a department initiative for lean, where we helped find funding for ideas that are brought to us. This includes everything from new tools to help automate tasks to general process improvements. Through this effort, well over 50 new ideas were processed, funded and completed over multiple years.
