As a working Site Lead, I was in charge of 6 other individuals but also continued to work as a System Administrator and Logistician. I wore many hats but my normal day consists of attending leadership meetings, installing new computer workstations/infrastructure, and helping customers with email or computer problems. As a team member at a Network Operations Security Center, I was responsible for audit logging and evaluation control, nightly backup controls, and ensuring that any network intrusion attempts were quickly discovered and dealt with. This was done by using COTS tools to monitor a very large worldwide network. As new nodes were added to this network, I would configure the firewall and other network equipment needed at the remote location. By using commercial Tumbleweed software that checks for predetermined "dirty words", I would monitor and assist users on failed emails sent and intercepted by the systems. In order to keep the system up to date, I would perform daily functions that would build and distribute new software to the computers that perform these functions. Daily duties also included helping customers on PKI issues such as private key recovery and keeping the Certificate Revocation List (CRL) up to date.
