Abu Dhabi government-owned global developer in renewable energy and clean technology. The current value of Masdar global portfolio is near US$30 billion, with over 23,000 MW of installed capacity leveraging technologies in solar PV, wind, concentrated solar power (CSP), carbon capture, green hydrogen and other. Founding and Executive Director. Member of the Executive Management Committee (EXCOM). Built and managed Masdar-Carbon, the carbon management and climate investment arm of Masdar. Main investments included:1- Abu Dhabi Carbon Capture & Storage Network (Al Reyadah), an emirate-wide decarbonization mega project involving CO2 gas capture from industrial and power generation sources and its transportation via a pipeline network to Abu Dhabi oil and gas fields. The first completed project is the CO2 capture from Emirates Steel plant and storage in Habshan gas field. 2- The Masdar Carbon Portfolio, a climate-based investment portfolio focused on carbon offsets in MENA and Asia. The portfolio produced at its peak close to 20 million tons of certified carbon credits (CER) which were traded on the UN-regulated compliance market. 3- EMIC (E.ON - Masdar Integrated Carbon), a joint-venture between E.ON (German utility company) and Masdar, focused on developing projects in energy efficiency, waste-to-energy and renewable energy on the global market. I was the Chairman of EMIC.Led a joint team from the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and Masdar in developing a clean power generation and carbon capture and storage (CCS) policy framework and deployment roadmap for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.Represented Masdar at the IEA Greenhouse Gas Program, Global Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Action Group, Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute and the executive committee of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).Executive Committee member of steering committees of Masdar City and Masdar Clean Technology Funds.
