Manage a team of 13 engineering technicians plus the physical Battery Engineering Lab.• Responsible team lead for Energy Products 2170 Battery Module – Product, Process, Prototype, Equipment.• Responsible team lead for Model 3 2170 Battery Module – Product, Process, Prototype, Equipment.• Successfully ramped two Vehicle Battery Module Programs from prototype through start of production.• Worked as part of a cross-functional team, experimenting with the use of alternative adhesives, plus the use of powder coating materials as dielectrics for reduced cost and cycle time.

EE in the Remanufacturing groupBattery refurbishment and diagnostic instrumentation development.• Creatively designed fixtures and tooling, while defining remanufacturing processes, creating manufacturing instructions and training.• Developed module conditioning instrumentation capable of automated matching of battery subcomponents for reduced cycle time.EE in the Service team• Developed and executed a vehicle recall system, in a simple database structure to track issues in the Roadster program.Designed, executed, and validated multiple electronic diagnostic tools and harnesses for troubleshooting and repair in the Roadster and Model S programs, including E parking brake release tools, battery conditioning tools, recovery charger system, CAN breakout tools, high voltage battery interface cables and adapters, power electronics module interface cables, lifting tools for battery packs and drive units.• Authored and co-authored multiple training documents, standard operating procedures, component manuals and connector identification matrices for Vehicle Technicians and Field Service Engineers.

Electronics Engineer• Created electronic design updates and supported AC-DC, 10 & 15KV power supplies to 25KW, for electron beam deposition sources used in vacuum system Physical Vapor Deposition. • Developed and executed unique magnetic pole piece controls for E-beam focusing in conventional multi-pocket and single source guns. Also worked to improve efficiency and lower cost in vacuum and hydrogen brazing of the gun components. • Designed and initiated production of a Quartz Crystal Microbalance deposition controller, PC based and capable of measuring multiple crystals, while controlling two discreet sources.

Rocket Science. Worked in electronics design, calibration and maintenance. • Staff engineering position in a sensor and MEMS device development lab. Worked with standard semiconductor process tools and systems to develop prototypes of microstructures and devices.• Installed and maintained the Physical Vapor Deposition, Chemical Vapor Deposition, Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PVD, CVD, PeCVD) etch and process systems of the fabrication lab, acted as facilities manager for the fab, installing life safety systems, automated processing systems; maintaining the institute’s SEM facility, two Cambridge Stereo-Scan Electron Beam microscopes.• Assisted Principle Investigators with experiments, data acquisition and reports. Responsible for testing and characterization of Spindt cold cathode field emission devices, for Field Emission Displays, early development of Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED Technology) as well as characterization of 2 and 3 photon, up-converting phosphors as fluorophores for for immunodiagnostic applications.• Operated and managed the Standards Lab; Maintained calibrated and repaired Test & Measurement Equipment to the component level. All types, from tube based Mass Spectrometers and Rayleigh crystallographers to modern NMR spectrometers, to support the life sciences, physical sciences, chemical sciences, computer sciences and geological sciences divisions. Assisted in developing Node 4 on the Arpanet, the precursor to today's world-wide-web. • Designed and fabricated equipment for specific researcher needs.
