For my final year project in Engineering, I worked with a team and our main aim was to understand the characteristics of Patchouli Oil. Patchouli Oil is a commonly used oil in skin care, aromatherapists and in perfumes as a base. Our main aim of the project was to understand differences in components and characteristics of the oil when different parts of the plant, aged differently are distilled to produce the oil. Some of our main tasks included,• Steam Distillation of different parts of the Patchouli plant to produce different grades of Patchouli oil.• Using Gas Chromatography to analyze the purity and characteristics of the the different grades of oil obtained.• A comprehensive report of the observations
