I'm a sustainable real estate professional with 18 years’ experience delivering sustainability goals on projects totaling over $3 billion in construction costs, reducing energy consumption of 100+ building portfolios 15+ percent, and securing LEED, NGBS, Green Globes, and FGBC certification for over 120 projects and 15 million square feet of space. What I’m known for:• Making the financial case for investment in sustainability for the built environment• Analyzing energy use and developing conservation and carbon reduction strategies • Preparing renewable energy feasibility and cost analysis• Guiding stakeholders on determining and then meeting green building certification goals• Leading international teams of 15+ peopleI’ve spent my career seeking balance between our natural resources, our health, and our built environment. After earning my architecture degree in sustainable design from the University of Oregon, I worked in architecture firms on the design side, and earned my architecture license. I then moved into sustainability consulting where I could have a greater impact on more buildings. Over the years I have had the good fortune to work on an exciting range of projects for a diverse set of clients, from a distribution center for Avon Cosmetics in Colombia, to an environmental center in Ethiopia, to a campus for Camillus House, an organization in Miami that is seeking to eliminate homelessness. I have also been blessed to work with world class design teams including the offices of Richard Meier, Arquitectonica, Zaha Hadid, and Gensler. In 2014, I was honored to be designated U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Fellow.When I’m not working with clients, I write thought leadership on sustainability topics for GreenBiz.com and other publications, and run a non-profit promoting inspiring stories of inspired lives to further spread positive impact in the world at www.StoriesLived.org. I enjoy being out in nature with my family and playing my guitar around a campfire.
