I’m on a mission to preserve the magic of flying. Airlines must get sustainability right - both from an effort and communication standpoint - to have the social licence to operate two decades from now. In the past 15 years, I have been on a mission to help airlines build trust in travel. In 2008, to build trust, airlines had to deliver customer service via Twitter, drive revenues on Facebook, and handle crises via social media. SimpliFlying became a global leader in social media strategy for aviation, working with over 100 brands in the first decade. Then in 2019, to build trust, airlines had to highlight their health and safety efforts. From being the first to release a 58-touchpoint map called the "Rise of Sanitised Travel" to launching APEX Health Safety powered by SimpliFlying ratings, I've led from the front. Our Fit2Fly product allowed airlines to own the customer journey by offering COVID-testing and wellness services within the booking path. In the future, airlines will need to get sustainability right to build trust. That's my focus now.Having worked directly with over 100 airlines, airports and OEMs (like Boeing, Airbus, and P&W), I've built an eye for helping leaders stay ahead of the competition. My book, SOAR, charts the journey of some of the best airline brands in the world on delighting customers and inspiring employees. Now a global bestseller, four editions of SOAR have been printed in the past 5 years, included one in Arabic. My passionate and honest perspectives on aviation strategy have found their way to over 100 leading media outlets, including the Harvard Business Review, BBC, CNBC, Reuters and Bloomberg, and into leading publications such as The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. I write a dedicated monthly column in Flight's Airline Business, challenging the typical assumptions about aviation. Moreover, I have focused on SimpliFlying's culture through a 100% remote workplace, a compulsory leave every 8 weeks, side-gigs for all and multiple team retreats each year. I studied Information Systems Management and Business Management at Singapore Management University and spent a semester on exchange at Carnegie Mellon University. Born in India, and raised in Singapore, I have lived in Boston, Uganda, Canada and the UK. I now live with my wife and two young daughters in Cambridge, MA.Follow me on Linkedin or get my book at www.simplisoar.com or www.sustainabilityintheair.com

Founder & CeoSimpliflying Mar 2008 - PresentSingapore, SgSimpliFlying has become the world’s leading aviation strategy firm in the past 15 years, yet we behave like an agile startup. Our team is 100% remote-based in Singapore, Spain, UK, Serbia, Lebanon, India and Canada – meaning we can provide airlines with a global and a 24/7 presence. Since 2008, we have not only worked with an enviable list of aviation brands but also built a unique work culture that appeals to the disruptors in the industry. We've been pushing the boundaries on social media, health & safety, and sustainability. Our team is young, energetic and brimming with ideas on how to make airlines remarkable. These are ideas based on over ten years of working with over 100 aviation firms and analyzing hundreds of aviation marketing campaigns monthly. With our work culture experiments, we have created a culture that’s the talk of the industry – from our forced leave policy to #DeepFridays. -

FounderFit2Fly Jan 2021 - Mar 2022Started as a product in Jan 2021, raised financing in May 2021, hired a CEO in July 2021, and sold to a health-tech company in Mar 2022. 14 months from inception to spin-off to sale. http://fit2fly.travel/At the pandemic's peak, the SimpliFlying team realised that airlines were losing customers by sending them to multiple third-party sites to book COVID-19 tests. A convoluted process that resulted in lower bookings in an already-bad travel climate. Hence, we launched a Booking Platform for COVID-19 testing directly embedded into the airline booking path, calling it Fit2Fly. Working with a third party to provide the booking engine, we joined hands with a major lab chain in Mexico to go-Live with Volaris, the largest airline in the country, within 4 weeks of the PoC. Sales volumes started doubling month on month. Based on this initial success, we pitched the product to potential investors, received funding and spun off Fit2Fly as a separate company incorporated in Singapore. We hired a CEO in Australia and set up a technology team in India, Australia and the UK. Our sales exceeded $300K in the first year, and we managed to get almost 3000 testing sites on sites in multiple countries. Our big win was when we went Live for over 200,000 travel agents on Amadeus, allowing them to book COVID tests on behalf of travellers. Ultimately, with the testing rules being dismantled, we sold the company to a large health-tech firm that could offer much more than only COVID-19 tests to travellers via the platform. -

Advisory Board MemberWhitetail Airlines Jun 2017 - Jun 2019Whitetail is introducing the world's first-ever virtual airline. Applying a novel “asset-light” business model where we virtually use other operative carriers and do not own any aircraft, avoiding acquisition and maintenance costs. We operate as a discounted virtual carrier (like a MVNO in telecoms) selling other airlines’ huge excess capacity ($180B market). I'm advising the startup on marketing strategy. http://whitetail.co -
