I am a Legal Consultant at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the Office of General Counsel, Legal Transition Team (LTT) where I assist my team in creating an investor-friendly legal environment across our countries of operations, with a focus on insolvency and debt restructuring and access to finance, fintech and digital trade. My role involves collaborating closely with our countries of operation to introduce crucial legal reforms and initiate technical assistance projects aimed at enhancing their insolvency systems and trade through digitalisation. Prior to working in policy-making, I built my career as a litigation lawyer in India. I worked with reputed law firms on civil and commercial matters, banking and finance, and dispute resolution. In 2019, I was exposed to a new era of rescuing businesses and providing them a second chance while working with a law firm solely specialising in insolvency matters. As an Associate, I represented clients in complex insolvency cases before various courts and tribunals. This high-value litigation experience eqiuiped me to handle both contentious and non-contentious matters in insolvency and debt restructuring. In the later years, not wanting to confine myself to one area early in my career, I simultaneously developed expertise in arbitration. I worked as a Dispute Resolution Associate at a reputable law firm and served as a Tribunal Secretary under a retired Supreme Court judge. This dual role allowed me to manage complex disputes in construction, energy (including oil & gas, renewables), and finance sectors across high-value domestic and international arbitrations. In 2022, I supplemented my practical experience with a master’s degree in Comparative International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London. While pursuing my master’s, I began working with EBRD, continuing my focus on insolvency, debt restructuring and access to finance.
