Facilitating learning and collaboration in the complexity of the youth field.

Collecting, unraveling and disseminating knowledge and experience on young people and the youth field in the Netherlands and the Middle East.

For the governmental Platform Youth Prevention Extremism and Polarisation) I worked on collecting and writing good practices: what works in preventing radicalisation and extremism and what role have youth professionals in this?

Responsible for idee, the magazine (print and online) of the political think tank Mr. Hans van Mierlo Stichting (D66).

Idee is the magazine of the scientific bureau of D66 (Mr. Hans van Mierlo Stichting). As an editor, I searched for authors, supported them in writing articles and edited the articles.

As an editor for Democraat, I wrote articles for this D66 magazine. With the editors' team we created three issues each year, I contacted people and organisations for input, and did interviews.

Together with another editor I was responsible for the blogs on Kennisnet Jeugd, the online platform about the transition and transformation of the youth sector (http://kennisnetjeugd.nl/blog). I invited authors for new blogs, supported them with the writing and edited the texts for the blogs.

The Netherlands Youth Institute is the Dutch national knowledge institute on children and youth matters. I worked for the Youth in Action programme, an EU programme for non-formal learning activities for young people. The programme stimulated the active involvement of young people in society and provided opportunities to acquire intercultural competences. I was responsible for a few action lines, such as international youth democracy projects. I assessed grant applications, monitored granted projects and promoted the opportunities of international youth work to various target groups of the programme. Besides, I was responsible for the external communication. Finally, I was involved in activities focused on cultural diversity and intercultural learning for young people and youth workers. As project manager of the EU information network Eurodesk I was responsible for informing young people and the youth sector on mobility opportunities for young people in Europe, funding opportunities and youth policy in Europe. As an editor for Kennisnet Jeugd, I contacted authors for writing blogs, supported them in this, and edited the texts.

As a country coordinator, I was responsible for monitoring political and human rights developments in Egypt and Libya, responding to public enquiries, and keeping up-to-date the country information on the Amnesty website. I've been involved in Amnesty activities and projects on Egypt and Libya, I've supported local groups in implementing activities on these countries, and I've been involved in lobbying activities targeting various authorities.

In the Cultural Policy Development department I've been involved in various projects on cultural cooperation with the southern Mediterranean region, including a networking project with partner organisations in the Arab world and Turkey and the drafting of a final publication. Besides, I coordinated the Dutch network of the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), a network of more than forty Dutch civil society organizations working on the Euro-Mediterranean intercultural dialogue. I provided information to the Dutch cultural sector, organized network meetings, maintained contacts with international coordinators and participated in international ALF meetings.

In my internship I did research on the funding opportunities in the Euro-Mediterranean region for cultural and youth projects. Besides, I assisted in developing a network of cultural organisations in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
