Currently in the process of transitioning careers to become a Registered Psychotherapist. After beginning my career in international development policy work, I realized soon after that my true calling is to work more directly supporting individuals address the personal challanges they face with proven mental health approaches and techniques. After deep introspection, discussion with mentors, and consultation with those in the mental health field I decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University which I was accepted and was admitted into May 2023. I look forward to pursuing a praticum placement with a clinic starting in May 2025 where I can apply the counselling methods I have learned and practiced in the MACP program along with pratical interpersonal skills I've gained working on a university residence (Carleton University Housing and Residence Life Services), in a youth career support program (Northern Youth Abroad), and as a counsellor and program facilitator in youth outdoor recreation settings (YMCA & Camp Tawingo). I also look forward to applying in the counselling setting my analytical skills I have gained through both my academic and professional experiences in International Development Policy. Personally, I spark my creativity from thought-provoking podcasts and lively improv classes. I challenge myself physically through fitness training, long-distance biking, skiing, and paragliding. Most of all, I enjoy connecting with, learning from, and serving others.I have participated in the Gallup Strengths-Based Leadership assessment and my personal report outlined my following strengths:- Achiever (Executing)- Discipline (Executing)- Harmony (Relationship Building)- Consistency (Executing)- Developer (Relationship Building) See below link for more information on my Leadership Strengths
