I worked on designing and implementing a Mentoring Program to aid the rehabilitation of ex-offenders. As part of this program, I managed a team of volunteer mentors and service users. I assessed the suitability of potential mentors and recruit volunteer mentors onto the program. I was responsible for arranging training placements for successful candidates to become qualified mentors in order to participate with the program. My role also involved carefully matching the volunteer mentors to the service users bearing in mind elements of risk regarding offending backgrounds, lifestyle and personalities. As Mentor Co-ordinator, I provided support to the mentors by listening to their concerns and offering advice where necessary. I also designed metrics to track the progress and development of the mentors and service users in terms of their development and attainment goals. These tools have been approved by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.
