Continuous integration system:- Designed and implemented improvements to the system to include flaky tests in presubmit runs. Metone-on-one with users to gather requirements. Analyzed usage patterns to determine the resourceimpact of including flaky tests, and documented my findings. Implemented new logic to rerun tests asnecessary to determine which test failures were real failures.Cluster testing system:- Modified the system to run in multiple Google Compute Engine zones, to better utilize availablecapacity. This required significant refactoring because the existing code contained many references tothe zone, which was assumed to be a single value.- With a teammate, designed a feature that allowed Google engineers to test code changes in a virtualenvironment without first publishing the code to the company’s binary release repository.- Analyzed resource usage to provide insights for areas of optimization. Presented my findings to theteam. Created a dashboard to track ongoing resource usage.- Investigated a Linux kernel bug that was preventing the system from operating correctly, and identified the root cause. Presented my findings to a group of senior engineers. Worked with Google’s kernel team to create a fix.- Mentored an intern who subsequently was hired as a full-time engineer.

I was a member of the Development Tools team at LinkedIn, working on the automated precommit/postcommit system. I implemented many new features in the system, which improved maintainability, robustness, and developer happiness.

I was a member of the Developer Infrastructure team at Google, where I worked on the build/test pipeline. I designed and implemented an improved scheduling algorithm that sought to maximize throughput, while enforcing quotas and maintaining fairness constraints.

Floating Temple is an open-source technology that distributes execution of a program, written in an interpreted language (e.g., Python), across multiple machines in a network cluster. The system is peer-to-peer to prevent any one machine from becoming a bottleneck or a single point of failure.The code is available at https://github.com/snyderek/floating_temple .
