    Dissertation Title: Intraday Activity Patterns and Market Microstructure Effects: An Empirical Investigation of Indian Capital Market Using High Frequency DataBrief Abstract:My study focuses on modeling intra-day patterns of returns, volatility of returns, trade volume and trade frequency. The intraday behavior is examined to study the effects of day trading phenomena, expiry dates of futures and options, cross-listing of stocks and weekends and holiday effects. The study also analyzes the price impact of block trades and the price and volume behavior surrounding block trades. Analysis is done for 500 stocks using high frequency data for the period 1999 – 2007 making it one of the largest dataset used for such type of studies.
