I worked as a contract auditor for Premier Consulting Group, an 8(a) firm located in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area. This work included auditing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant recipients in Nigeria. We audited a total of 16 PEPFAR grant recipients in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria during a three-month period between August and September 2014. My work included reviewing internal controls, assessing control risks and performing substantive tests of disbursements, cash management, budgets, procurement activities and inventory. We also assessed management of the cooperative agreement funds, and wrote findings and recommendations in accordance with Federal regulations under 45 CFR, parts 74 and 92, and the various Notices of Award issued by CDC to each grant recipient. I learned and used software tools such as TeamMate automated working paper software and IDEA statistical analysis and random sampling software to assist in conducting the work. The assignment ended after the fieldwork was completed.
