The one thing in common among my work experiences has been the ability to understand the business needs of the company and the technical challenges of the problem at hand to develop a practical solution that works well and gets to market in a timely fashion.In addition to this I build strong relationships with the people that work for me and with me. As a result I have a network of some of the best technical people in New England to draw from whenever I start a new job.Currently, I am the director of analytics for web hosting brands at Endurance International. leading a team of data scientists and data engineers pulling together data across the enterprise to derive insights to improve the product and increase sales and lifetime value. Previously, I was the VP of Science at matchmine where I helped refine an existing recommendation system to make it flexible enough to meet the needs of a wide range of partners (movies, music, videos, blogs and podcasts). This was not a collaborative filtering approach but one that focused on understanding the content of the items and the interests of the users. It required gathering data from many sources, analyzing it, and understanding user behaviors.The work at matchmine was similar in many ways to work I did at Predictive Networks/Predictive Media. I was with Predictive from beginning to end and helped design an ad targeting system that had 2 million users at its peak, delivered over a billion ads, and had zero down time and zero complaints and in controlled studies was shown to deliver CTR 4-5 times higher than the industry average. Also at Predictive I helped develop a recommendation system for TV and movie viewing that was used to integrate VOD offerings into a unified experience for users. The IP from that venture is currently owned by a holding company for Comcast.I am looking forward to my next opportunity to lead a technical team tasked with solving interesting problems.Specialties: algorithm development, recommendations systems, targeted advertising

Head Of RelevanceNokia Apr 2009 - Feb 2012Responsible for running Nokia's application store (Ovi). Revamped system from a very unscalable, one size fits all store to a dynamic store that was different for each of the 20,000 country and device combinations. By refreshing the storefront daily with content specific to the device and location we were able to grow the store from 1 million downloads a day to 10 million downloads a day in 18 months. Designed a tool to allow us to program 20,000 versions of the store in a scalable way while accommodating editorial programming, sponsored placements and recommendations and was awarded a patent for the design of the tool. I was in put in charge of complete end-to-end development of this product for managing the store. I managed a group of 20 people comprised of software engineers, QA engineers, data engineers, UX designers spread across teams in Burlington, MA, Westchester, NY and Manhattan. The product was delivered on-time and on-budget. -

Oversaw development of first networked system of baited insect traps using the Zigbee wireless protocol; a low power, low bandwidth solution that relayed information about the status of the traps. Development included the addition of several sensors to the traps, the development of a gateway appliance to relay information over the Internet and a back end system (server, database and GUIs) to process data and present it to the users and service personnel through a web browser. Oversaw MITRE team responsible for technical readiness assessment of software produced by contractors for VACE. Role involved coordinating delivery of video software from contractors, conducting tests of the software and algorithms, providing feedback to the contractors and advising the VACE panel. Dealt with issues of sharing information between local and federal authorities to improve security while preserving privacy. -
