The position is oriented around integrating trait seedling data into restoration efforts through database development. This project can help restoration efforts by linking species characteristics to their establishment in certain environments.

Research is carried out under the guidance of Professor Dr. Gabriela Nuñez-Mir. The current independent research project includes investigating whether invasive species that are more closely or distantly related to native flora families are more likely to naturalize in their regional niche. Additionally, the association between the proportions of introduced species to native plant species within a taxonomic family is being explored to determine if invasion patterns within families affect species introduction.A secondary project involves collecting data on over 800 invasive species, focusing on 22 traits, and compiling this information into a master database for reference in future research. A manuscript is currently being written for this project.

I performed a multitude of environmental testing procedures on samples from the Department of Defense (DoD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other private clients to ensure compliance with local and federal laws. This included mercury testing for soils and waters, where I conducted preparation work and subsequent analysis on the Hydra II mercury spectroscopy instrument. Additionally, I prepared drinking water samples for multi-metals analysis on the ICP-OES, conducted flashpoint testing to determine ignition points, and performed pH testing and adjustment of samples. I managed data reporting and review in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). My role also involved hazardous waste management, adhering to safe disposal techniques and regulations. Moreover, I utilized my quality control knowledge and training to maintain the integrity of the data collected and reported back to clients.
