2022 Graduate of Washington State University. Majored in Hospitality Business Management and Minored in Psychology. My love for the Hospitality Industry started when I was 17 years old, still in high school, and continues each day I stay in the industry. After taking some months to myself after graduation, I am now eagerly seeking to find a position in the Food and Beverage industry particularly in Event Planning, Banquets/Catering, or Restaurant Management. I long to be a part of a company that supports and encourages one another to be successful and kind human beings. I want to work for a company whose people want to be there and believe in the work they're doing. The reason being is, I want to own a business like this someday. Support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging are things I deem highly important in both my professional and personal life. Not only do I want to be surrounded by people like this, I wish to be a part of and create a team like this.

As a host I utilize my communication skills during my face-to-face interactions with guests and maintain a positive and energetic attitude as I was their first and last impression of the restaurant. Depending on what was needed that day I had a variety of responsibilities. Typically, I'd greet guests and then allocate where they would sit based on their preferences, our available tables, and the abilities of our servers. After this is configured, I ask another host on my team, typically my runner, to go and seat the guests at the specified tables, using time management skills to ensure the flow of the restaurant is moving smooth and consistently. All in all, my job, and everyone who works at there, our job is to make our guests happy and wanting to return. To make sure we can keep the guests happy and wanting to return, the management team makes sure that all their employees are happy and wanting to return. It's a good dynamic and something that I would like to see more of. Show less -

Being a part of this team pushed me to excel in the hospitality industry so far and get a feel for banquet and catering styles again. I learned fine dining etiquette, how to set tables for fine dining and how to make the event an experience while our guests spent their time with us. My professional communication skills and interpersonal skills have improved tremendously along with the ability to be quick on my feet to fix problems before the guests realize there's even a problem during my time at WSU Hospitality Catering. I joined this program a year late, my senior year in high school, so I just needed to jump right in and get started and that exactly what I did. One of the teachers took me under his wing and within the first three weeks of classes starting, I was already the banquet manager and was assisting in planning our upcoming events with my teachers. This was a terrifying experience because I had never done anything like that before, but it taught me that there's no reward without any risk and the best thing you can do for yourself is to believe in your abilities. Going to this school and having the teachers I did, is what led me down the hospitality path and I will forever be grateful to them for teaching me how to be a good leader and be a team player because even leaders don't know everything, and still have to work with their team if they want to be successful. Summer Camp CounselorCamp Discovery Jul 2013 - Jul 2017United StatesEvery summer I would work alongside one of my younger brothers previous teacher helping him run a summer camp for kids 6-11 years-old. Typically, this was a three week summer camp, each week having a differing theme and that would challenge the groups of kids differently. Depending on the theme, the other camp counselors and myself would help the kids build a moon base, make water rockets, build their own game, and show them that they can learn and be creative in a fun and engaging way.
