Sofia Bôrras was born on the 31st of July 1998 (Coimbra, Portugal). She started studying music at the age of six in the School of Arts of the Bairrada where she concluded the 8th grade in saxophone.Throughout these years, Sofia has invested in her formation by integrating a lot of masterclasses. In her formation she had the opportunity of working with musicians like Vincent David, Kenneth Tse, Nicolas Prost, Ties Mellema, Ottis Murphy, Mario Marzi, Niels Bijl, Quatour Morphing, Gerard McChrystal, Henrique Portovedo, Fernando Ramos, Ricardo Pires, and Mário Marques. She also participated in numerous contestsand won many prizes.She is used to playing the most varied types of music from J-S Bach, Robert Schumann, César Franck, Henri Tomasi, Alfred Desenclos, Jacques Wildberger, Ryo Noda to Jacob TV. Sofia has also performed in many stages such as Casa da Música, Centro Cultural de Belém, the Conservatory of Vigo, The Professional School of Arts of Covilhã - EPABI and in the University of Aveiro.As a multidisciplinary artist, Sofia participates in multiple contexts, such as in informalensembles like the Big Band of Bairrada, but also in orchestral ones – in 2019, she participated in the 8th Summer Choirs Festival in Lisbon, where she joined the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras to premier the piece “Linhagem” by Eurico Carrapatoso, at Centro Cultural de Belém.In 2016, Sofia entered the University of Aveiro where she concluded her Bachelor inMusic - Saxophone Performance.
