Sofia Caldwell is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a mother of a child with autism. She received her graduate training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and her Masters in Special Education at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. She also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mary Mount University, Arlington, Virginia. During the past 15 years she has been living autism through her son. Not only does she understand 1st hand the challenges of raising a child with autism spectrum disorder, but also how it feels to overcome hopelessness. She went from a parent in denial and grew into a professional with determination. The amount of knowledge that she gained over the years in raising her son as well as all the different treatments she acquired have compelled her to help others. ABA has been the most constant and most effective treatment in her son’s life to date. Because of this she is now in the field today. She has learned how applied behavior analysis can really change the lives of many persons with disabilities for the better. She has founded Early Autism Solutions, where she consults and designs programs for persons with autism and developmental disabilities in the Washington, DC area. Her Programs range from basic skills training to behavior management of self-injurious and aggressive behavior.
