I was a member the company’s R&D team, assisting in a range of research activities with the aim of developing new products for the animal feed market.Key responsibilities:• Planning and performing research activities for the development of new products in line with the company’s NPD pipeline.• Conducting scientific data analysis using a variety of statistical skills, such as GraphPad Prism, Excel and bioinformatics tools (FinchTV, MultAlin, Expasy, Pymol and Chimera).• Keeping accurate written records of laboratory protocols, procedures and experimental data.• Actively participating in laboratory meetings and presenting research updates to the other members of the research team as well as the marketing and sales team.• Responsible for ordering all consumables and reagents for the laboratory, and raising purchase orders for the finance team.• Contributing to standard operating procedures, risk assessments and material safety data sheets.• Assisting in the training of new staff and work experience students in experimental techniques.• Completing a range of skill-based and health & safety training courses (available on request). • Attending a variety of industry conferences and trade shows (some internationally).

•During my final year I was a student ambassador for the school of Biological Sciences in the University. I worked during the UCAS open days, where I introduced high school students to the university by showing them around the campus. •Learned how to talk in front of many people, since the groups were consisted of 20 students.

•In the summer 2016 I attended a 4-week placement in the laboratory of Professor Fry, in the department of the Molecular and Cell Biology of University of Leicester, whose research includes the molecular control of cell division and use of fluorescent microscopy.•My work included validation of dynein and dynactin antibodies by immunofluorescence and western blotting in adenocarcinoma cells •Techniques learned and used include: Western Blot, tissue culture, preparation of agarose gels, immunofluorescence and fluorescent microscopy•Developed teamwork skills by working with many people in the laboratory •Learned to be responsible by following strictly the working hours Learned to be organised by keeping records in a lab book
