Profile bio

About Sofia Coombs

I am a low intensity advanced practitioner, this role allows opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children. I want to progress through my career in which I support young people who have experienced trauma and support colleagues as a supervisor. Having been a manager myself in several hospitality roles I am aware of the basics to be a successful leader, I am very keen to expand this knowledge and specifically learn how to clinically supervise others. After a successful career in Photography and gaining experience as an assistant manager in hospitality I felt that I was ready to take on the challenge of returning to study and completed my post graduate diploma in low intensity psychological interventions as well as working full time.My strongest skills are that of empathy, communication, the ability to give support and to relate to others proactively, which I have utilised in my work and home life. I have always had a thirst for knowledge and am eager to learn new skills, completing my first post graduate diploma at a later age in life shows my determination to broaden my knowledge. I am a very driven person in whatever I do, such as in my working life. Working in the hospitality industry I worked my way up to being assistant manager and manager which requires me to learn important aspects of running the business.I see myself as a resilient and an adaptable person who can cope in a range of situations. Having completed my previous degree with a 2:1 as well as taking on studying and working full time for my diploma has demonstrated that I can cope with a high workload and deliver work to a high standard. Being part of the single point of access team in West Sussex allowed me to manage higher levels of risk and improve my skills of triaging referrals. I was required to connect with other services in order to offer the most appropriate care plan for each referral. Working in customer service in my previous jobs I have developed good communications skills and I have gained experience in developing rapport with people from different backgrounds, ages and cultures. I believe that these skills are transferable and will aid me in my practice as an advanced low intensity psychotherapist in developing a working alliance and collaboration with my future clients.I want to dedicate my life to bettering myself as a Psychotherapist working with young people, continuing to learn more and grow as a Psychotherapist but also as a person.
