About Sofia Espada

Hi, I'm Sofia: a translator passionate about the audiovisual world and subtitling 🎬 😄As someone who has always loved reading, languages and making up her own worlds using the power of words, I started my early 20s by following the visual side of that passion for stories and narrative, and becoming a photographer while studying audiovisual communication and cinema. Since human psychology and sociology are two domains that have always fascinated me as well, in the sense that I like learning about how our mind works and interacts with other minds, how they are influenced and so on, marketing was another one of the fields that I pursued, becoming a community manager.For some years, these were the things that made me feel closer to whom I thought I was, but, unknowingly, I always kept looking for something more. As the pandemic hit and I was no longer able to work in those fields, I started attending many webinars and online events on translation. And something clicked: I realized that I could combine my biggest passions, audiovisual narratives, the written word and languages!
