This May of 2024 I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona, with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Nursing school has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, but I have gained such valuable knowledge and skills that will benefit me in my future nursing career, and in my life as well. I am so excited to begin my career as a new RN, and I hope I can pursue my passion in either NICU or Labor & Delivery. I love the opportunity to care for more vulnerable patient populations, and I prefer smaller nurse-patient ratios so that I have more time to be invested in, and dedicated to, my patients, their care, and their families. I enjoy being able to educate patients and their families, to provide support and equip them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health. I was blessed to have my senior nursing preceptorship on a Mother/Baby unit, which equipped me with strong foundational knowledge in neonatal and maternal health. Learning to assume full care for my assigned couplets, I was able to strengthen my nursing skills in time management, interdisciplinary communication, assessments, medication administration, charting, and comprehensive patient education. I am so thankful to have had such a valuable learning experience.As I move forward into my own nursing practice, I hope to always represent the relational aspect of nursing. I want to take the time to listen to my patients, get to know them and their families as real people, and take the time to understand their values and care preferences so that I can build trust and advocate for them.
