I am a junior honors student at Auburn University studying History and Anthropology. Both in my studies and my extracurriculars, I am passionate about history education and connecting people with the past, because I believe we cannot move forward without first understanding and reconciling with our past. I currently serve as Co-President of the History Club, where I plan events to connect with and teach AU students about our past. Additionally, I host a podcast called "It's All History to Me," where each week, my co-host and I invite a history-based professional to talk about their work and the importance of studying history. Outside of the history club, I recently finished an internship under Dr. Elijah Gaddis from the Auburn University History Department where I worked on genealogical research and completed interpretative signage for a 3-D model of the Edmund-Pettus bridge, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march. After I finish my bachelor's degree in May 2026, I plan to pursue a master's in museum studies and work in curation or collections management. While I believe in studying and understanding the past, I work hard to improve the present and give back to my community. I currently serve as a shift leader in our Campus Kitchen, an organization dedicated to helping fight food insecurity in the Lee County area. Each week, I deliver meals made from leftover food from on-campus dining places to local organizations and people. Furthermore, I have also served as a Week of Service Counselor, where I introduced freshman honors students to Auburn and educated them about poverty in Lee County, Alabama. I also support incoming freshmen through my role as a Resident Assistant, where I provide guidance but also create a welcoming environment for them throughout their first year at Auburn.

InternAuburn University History Department Jan 2024 - Jul 2024Under the guidance of Dr. Elijah Gaddis, I assisted with two major projects: genealogy work and completing interpretive signage for a 3-D model of the Edmund-Pettus Bridge to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. For the genealogical research, I researched the family histories of local Black senior citizens using census records, newspapers, and much more. For the second project, I conducted research and reviewed oral histories to create a narrative to tell the story of the protest. I also interviewed Charles Mauldin, who was sixth in line at Bloody Sunday to continue to add to the many narratives represented in this project.
