Profile bio

About Sofia Giannotti

I am a humanitarian actor and activist, eager to bring my passion for humanitarian action, my belief in the power of the community, and my commitment to collaborative efforts within the civil society.I am a master’s graduate at the Erasmus Mundus Joint master’s degree programme in International Humanitarian Action with the Network of Humanitarian Action (NOHA), which is an inter-university multidisciplinary two-years master’s programme, focused on the areas of international cooperation and humanitarian action.I started my master at the University College Dublin (UCD) where I had the change to engage in the holistic world of humanitarian action, with a focus on structure of the different management aspects of the humanitarian response, including several aspects of the project cycle and context of international cooperation. In the second semester, I moved to the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands, to pursue my specialization in Humanitarian Analysis and Intervention Design. My experience in the Netherlands gave me the opportunity to strengthen my research and analytical skills in the context of Project Construction and Project Management. Moreover, my last semester was located at the German Jordanian University in Amman, Jordan. Here, I had the chance to specialize more in relation to Assistance of Women and Minors, Child Protection, Mental Health, and Protracted Displacement in the Middle East. In Jordan, I accomplished the Professional Certificate for the Social Work Program focused on Migration and Refugees. Finally, I accomplished my bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, of the department of Political Science, at the LUISS University in Rome. The experiences I have had over the last three years have helped me to develop and build the skills required to work in the field of assisting migrants and vulnerable communities, but they have also increased and emphasised my cultural sensitivity, the importance of inclusion and empathy, and, most importantly, my alignment with the humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, independence, humanity, and solidarity.Over the last two years, I have had the opportunity to concretely expand my knowledge of project development, project monitoring, and project implementation, as well as my personal skills in writing reports and managing administrative organization, establishing clear communication with stakeholders involved, and ensuring great teamwork.
