Hello! My name is Sofia, and I just graduated with my BA in Russian Language and Literature at the University of Virginia and am continuing my education with an MS in Business Analytics this fall. Growing up as a military child, my life has been challenging and dynamic, though it proved to be rewarding. Throughout my 10+ moves, I’ve lived across the U.S. as well as the world. This lifestyle has prompted my interest in history, international affairs, differing global communities, and my heritage caused me to be particularly adamant in studying Russian. I am both Russian and American and my degree is allowing me to deepen my lingual, cultural, and political knowledge. As Founder and President of UVA’s Slavic and Eurasian Culture Club, we strive to provide a common space of interest for anyone both within and outside of our department. Additionally, my insightful internship at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany provided me with a taste of the diplomatic career I am considering. Teaching English to Russian speakers and piano to children has also allowed me to develop skills of leadership and communication. Working as the assistant to the owner of a small business and the social media manager allowed my creative side to evolve and provided me with organization and marketing abilities.
