Under the guidance of Dr. Cathy Lord, I have completed training on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and built a foundation of knowledge regarding autism. I have been involved in research projects including but not limited to translating the Brief Observation of Symptoms of Autism (BOSA) tool into Spanish and coding Brief Observation of Social Communication Change (BOSCC) videos for research purposes. Working under the guidance of Dr. Remi Torres, Dr. Jennie Grammer, and Dr. Nastassia Hajal, I am involved in their study of Mexican mothers’ socialization of kindness and emotion. In this role, I translated and transcribed video interviews from Spanish into English. As a general practitioner in Bogotá, I was focused on disease prevention and the promotion of health. My patients were primarily perinatal women and young children. I counseled families about pregnancy, domestic violence, and possible medical and psychiatric co-morbidities. With the child patients I saw, I reviewed their growth and development, tracked milestones, and helped promote healthy lifestyle habits. In some cases, I had to perform mandated child abuse or domestic violence reporting.

As a staff physician, I worked in the Labor & Delivery department, inpatient services, and emergency services. I delivered babies and tended to a wide range of emergent medical issues including lacerations, heart attacks, seizures, and intoxications. I also was a surgical assistant for senior surgeons. I worked with all patients of all ages in this job.
