I am gaining experience in a busy Maxillofacial unit, where more than 500 trauma cases Are treated per year. My responsibilities are assisting in minor oral surgery under local anaesthesia, intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. I assist orthognathic surgery, head and neck malignancy surgery (resection and reconstruction), head and neck trauma and salivary gland surgery. I am attending out- patient clinics. I dictate clinic letters. Six days a week theatres including three trauma sessions provide me with the opportunity to develop my surgical skills. I am responsible for both elective and acute admissions. I am gaining good experience in ward work and am responsible for day to day care of in- patients. I manage patients with lacerations, dental abscesses and post op problems in treatment room on ward. As a senior house officer in oral & maxillofacial surgery I am involved in the diagnosis, investigation and management of a wide range of oro- facial diseases in both new and review patients.
