I am a Mexican lawyer passionate about technology and law. My experience includes a strong background in corporate law, financial transactions, and arbitration. I have a solid knowledge of disruptive technology regulations, IT transactions and privacy and data protection. I am a certified privacy professional (CIPP/E). I won the Future Leaders Competition 2020 organized by the International Institute of Communications with my entry “The Gossip Algorithm: Is it possible to breach privacy when there is no human in the loop?” I am developing a digital marketplace for legal services where people can easily find lawyers that match their needs. I am convinced that law and technology have a symbiotic relationship where both improve each other. I studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. To obtain my degree, I wrote my thesis about the Restatement of [Mexican] Monetary Law in Light of Bitcoin. This was a challenging task since at that time very few people -let alone lawyers- knew about blockchain and cryptocurrency. By the same time, I started working at Curtis, an international law firm where I grew up as a lawyer. I worked there for 4+ years. I studied an LLM in Computer and Communications Law at the Queen Mary University of London. My LLM dissertation analyzes the role of transparency in protecting individuals from the potential harms of Artificial Intelligence. While in London, I volunteered to deliver lessons on law and entrepreneurship to college students in the Tower Hamlets borough.
