My desire to work with youth has been a passion of mine for quite some time, and, in my first year of university, I was drawn to study criminology and psychology. As I continue to work towards my Bachelor's degree, as an upper-level undergraduate student, I have aimed my focus to be on youth. Studying closely adolescent development and youth within the criminal justice system. In the future, I plan to obtain a masters degree in social work, and continue working with vulnerable youth within my community. I am committed to achieve a career where I am able to better the lives of youth. Outside of UFV, I am gaining additional experience working with youth through volunteering with Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association. I volunteer as a mentor for a local youth helping provide a positive influence in their life. This opportunity has equipped me with strong communication and active listening skills as well as consistent training increasing my knowledge. While obtaining my degree I have also held a part-time job working as a medical receptionist, providing me with problem solving, time management, and teamwork skills.
