Alten Sweden has been one of the donors to this NGO since it was founded thirteen years ago. The aim is to help the organisation reach self sustainability.

TTS Marine AB designs and manufactures RoRo equipment such as ramps, movable car decks, internal and external doors. The customers are market-leading ship owners and shipyards worldwide. -Mechanical Design: Constructing items, such as movable ramps, covers and car decks, in new customer specific projects. Including steel structure, mechanical fittings, piping and cabling. Working with projects from start to delivery at the office in Gothenburg. Creating 3D models in Autodesk Inventor through skeleton modeling. Making workshop and installation drawings to the yard and manufacturers. Participate in design reviews to present the design of own item and get input from other designers’ items. Update and redesign according to comments from the classification society and the yard. And last but not least, support installation engineers and solve problems during installation. -Q&A Responsible: Follow up of Q&A reports regarding design problems; solve the problems and prevent that it happens in future. Create cooperation between departments to optimize the solving process. Prevention through holding presentations and training for the Design Engineers and improve processes and technical documentation. Design responsible in a task force for a warranty project for Wallenius-Wilhelmsen’s Mark V vessels. Investigate how to solve the problems through inspections on board, design/redesign components, quality check of manufactured fitting details at the work shop in China, inspect the installed components, make final improvements and finally; train staff to avoid similar problems.

The degree project was carried out in cooperation with Toyota Material Handling. The assignment was to find more areas of application for an electric towing tractor, as well as making the product fit into the brand’s range through a facelift. The project resulted in two products: a future concept with three new areas of application and a completely new design and a facelifted version of the towing tractor with a new plastic cover and new parts. The result was presented with the aid of a model made in CATIA v5, sketches and a report. Toyota is going to use the material as inspiration for further development of the towing tractor.
