About Sofia Ouakri

I am currently a Social Worker, at East Sussex Council. I have a mixed Italian and Moroccan heritage. Italian is my first language. I’m fluent in English and speak basic French and Spanish. I have worked as a childcare provider since I was 18 years old and as a teacher for students with additional needs in a school environment, supporting young students with Autism, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia and Muscular Dystrophy. I have strong communication skills demonstrated by my roles as Social Mentor, Generalist Adviser and Customer Assistant. I developed empathy and interpersonal skills through my three years as an au pair in the USA, where I was a childcare provider for families and cared for a child with high functioning autism for a year. My passion is travel and explore the world and learn about new cultures. I love music and in my free time I like to sing and play flute.
