In response to enormously high levels of racism and lack of accountability for administrators who committed unwanted acts of sexual encounters with students, I directed and co-founded a student-run activist group centralized around advocating for an increased equitable and non-partisan academic environment within the Visalia Unified School District. I conducted a variety of different tasks such as speech writing, social media campaigning, protest leading, and organized meetings with the school district board in order to prioritize the drastic need for academic change. I demanded for and ensured that all middle schools and high schools in the central valley create “cultural proficiency teams”, made up of staff, students, and parents. The program, guided by Randall B Lindsay, author of “The Culturally Proficient School”, is now helping a total of 20 schools to change their cultures.
