Degree Apprenticeship, Part-Time degree at the University of Westminster

While working in an award nominated gastro pub, I developed communication skills in a fast paced work environment. I received many comments on my confidence and friendly nature as well as being well presented.

I spent two weeks at Graham spending time both in the office and on a number of building sites that where at different stages of their projects life cycle. I communicated with and assisted employees on all levels e.g. construction director, project managers, site managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, site engineers, and many trainees in all areas. I developed my knowledge of the construction industry specifically in the roles and responsibilities of site and project managers as I shadowed and assisted trainee's and experienced site/project managers throughout their working day. I developed skills and knowledge of the importance of fire stopping, organisation, issues affecting site (e.g. weather), management, communication, problem solving, safety management, team building, collaborative work, practical work and critical thinking. I visited 5 sites which enabled me to become familiar with general safety on a construction site, regular processes and how to communicate with both client and subcontractors when errors and issues occur.
