I am a historian with an interest in gender, labor, sexuality, and popular culture in the Atlantic World. I currently teach American Maritime History at the Williams-Mystic Program, an experiential, interdisciplinary study away program that brings university students to America's coasts and guides them in conducting their own maritime research projects along New England's shores and in the collections of the Mystic Seaport Museum. Before coming to Williams-Mystic, I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Arizona. While doing so, I worked as an instructor of record for several courses at UA and taught 7/8 Social Studies full-time. As someone who cares passionately about access to education and student experience, I am proud to participate in the Just Futures Mellon grant, Reimagining New England Histories, as the Co-Chair of the K-12 Curriculum Committee, bringing together my background as a historian and an educator to work with local stakeholders in crafting standards-based lessons that better tell New England's complex histories.
