Will the Pill make you depressed? Have you heard it might? My interdisciplinary PhD project that was successfully defended in December 23 focuses on hormonal contraception and mental health. I integrate social theory by using intersectionality as a theoretical springboard in quantitative socioepidemiological studies of the association between use of hormonal contraception and anti-depressants, as well as qualitatively study the discourses surrounding hormones, contraceptives and health in contemporary Swedish society. My main supervisor is prof. Juan Merlo at the Unit for Social Epidemiology, Department of Clinical Sciences, medical Faculty, Lund university. My co-supervisor is prof. Diana Mulinari at the Department of Gender studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lund university.
